As summer begins its wind down (slow for some, far too fast for others) I like to think about all the blessings we have coming to us as we prepare to swing back into fall. But that eagerness to look forward to busyness can often distract from the moment, and God often calls us to live in the moment.
As North Americans we have a kind of addiction to being busy, to defining ourselves by what we are producing or accomplishing. Summer is often a time of relaxation, and I doubt it is coincidence that it is ALSO a time of nervousness and anxiety for us.
And so, in these last weeks of summer, find time for Sabbath. Find time for rest. Find time to simply enjoy life in your community, whatever that might look like.
Trust me… business will be here soon enough.
